‘Suvvai Pickles’ Producing Company, now named “SUVAI CONDIMENTS COMPANY” came into existence in the year 1987, with Mrs.Aruna Anusuya Rangasamy M.Sc., as the proprietrix with the name as A.R.Traders.
R.Rangasamy, her husband belongs to a traditional agriculture family and is still engaged in farming. Mrs. Aruna Anusuya Rangasamy and her husband live in a village called SULAKKAL, where the “SUVVAI PICKLE” Industry is located, in Pollachi Taluk ( Now in Kinathukadavu Taluk) , Coimbatore District.
Pickle Industry was started in 1987 and the first consignment of one full container of pickles was exported to the then West Germany. The Importer M/s. Kumarasamy Import & Exports distributed the products in all the European Countries. Then only, the company planned to market their products in the local market. So, a new factory building was built with types of machinery in 1988. The products are being made in a very hygienic environment and procedure. Proprietrix Mrs.Aruna Anusuya Rangasamy and her husband R.Rangasamy attended the “Advanced Technology Training Programme” a residential 30 days course, conducted by the “Central Food Technological Research Institute” (CFTRI), Mysore. This has helped them to follow a unique way of processing to maintain the quality of “SUVVAI PICKLES”.
The products are being exported to Singapore, Malaysia, and Canada. Some experts are being made through merchant exporters and Export Houses too.
The Institute of Economic studies NewDelhi has awarded the company with Merit Certificate and UDYOG SHREE award to Mr.R.Rangasamy, in 1995. CODISSIA, Coimbatore District Small Scale Industries Association, honored the company with “TEXVEL” award for their export performance as a small scale Industry in 1997.
The company participated in exhibitions in and out of Tamil Nadu. The Name “SUVVAI” means the taste in Tamil Language and all the varieties of “SUVVAI” Pickles have the traditional taste, flavor, and quality.
Now, the company markets their products not only in their brand “SUVVAI” and also supply their product to other relabelling companies & exporters with high quality. Consumer’s satisfaction and feedback are always given priority for improving taste and quality of the product.
